Ol Pejeta runs a herd of over 5,500 pure-bred Boran cattle and a smaller herd of Ankole cattle. These pure-bred Boran cattle are widely renowned as the hardiest breed in Africa, are excellent for breeding, 100% grass-fed and provide prime beef cuts that are halal. Owning the largest herd of purebred Boran cattle in the world and with Boran genetics being in demand from farmers all over Africa, Ol Pejeta is well-positioned to provide this. Our genetics can be found in South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe and we endeavour to remain a top producer of Boran genetics. As one of the first conservancies to combine livestock and wildlife, Ol Pejeta Conservancy has continuously demonstrated that through proper management, a symbiotic relationship between the two is attainable. We operate a unique livestock-wildlife integration model where livestock promotes healthy rangelands through well-planned grazing patterns that emulate ancient natural processes, that create bio-diversity hotspots. Over the years we have been able to increase our breeding herd, employ over 200 people and fatten thousands of community cattle for the market.
