Khaled Abol Naga and Nargis Fakhri Stand with Sudan

This month, actress and model Nargis Fakhri and Human and Child rights activist and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Khaled Abol Nagavisited Sudan, the last male northern white rhino on earth. Their visits attracted international attention to Sudan, as Fakhri and Naga shared their experiences on social media and encouraged people to donate.

Fakhri was completely enchanted with Sudan, posting on her Instagram “Sudan & I taking a stroll. He is the last male northern white rhino. We talked about life & how hard things have become for his species as the poachers have killed us all. From 20,000 we are down to 1 male (Sudan) & 4 females . Pls help donate or come visit.”

Naga also spent time with Sudan, as well as paying a visit to one of Ol Pejeta’s supported schools, finding out as much as he could about the Conservancy’s community outreach programmes. He tweeted “visited an @OlPejeta community school today. Great project.. Good Education is a child right :)”

There is no doubt that their international reach raised awareness about the northern white rhino, and about Ol Pejeta’s wider conservation work. Their fans engaged with their updates and a lot of this was translated into online donations. Fakhri and Naga will continue to speak out about rhino conservation, using their platforms to encourage the world to help. Money raised will, among other things, go toward IVF treatment for one of the female northern whites on Ol Pejeta. This is the last hope for saving this subspecies, and we are so grateful to Nargis Fakhri and Khaled Naga for their support.
