Desk Donations from a Friend of Ol Pejeta

Every visitor that comes to Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a valued one. Without tourism, we would not be able to be the effective, innovative and respected conservation organisation that we are today.

James Hamilton visited Ol Pejeta with his family last year, and simply by paying conservancy entry fees, staying in one of Ol Pejeta’s tented camps, and enjoying game drives – his visit supported our efforts to conserve Laikipia’s wildlife, while improving the lives of people in the surrounding communities. However, James and his family took it one step further. Having heard of our community outreach programmes, James requested a visit to one of the Ol Pejeta supported schools in the area.

Our community team took his to Ereri Primary School, to the North of Ol Pejeta. James was deeply troubled by the lack of desks in the classrooms, resulting in several students often having to share one.

Upon his return back home, James made a donation of USD 1,000 to Ereri, that went towards the purchase of 20 new desks. The teachers report that his donation has made a real difference to the learning environment of the pupils,  especially those preparing to sit their national examinations later in the year.

From Ol Pejeta Conservancy and the entire staff and pupils of Ereri Primary School, we say a BIG thank you to James Hamilton and his family.
