Deciding what clothes and shoes to pack for your safari can be a bit confusing, especially if you've never been to Kenya before. We've put together a list of the basics to help you out. Remember that Ol Pejeta, although on the equator, is at quite high altitude. Early mornings and evenings can get cold - down to 1 degree celsius some times of the year. However, temperatures can warm up very quickly, and cool, lose clothing is recommended for the day time. Brown and beige coloured 'safari gear' isn't essential. For suggestions on what other items should be on your list, see what to bring.

  • A good pair of hiking boots are recommended if you are planning on doing any walking
  • A good pair of sunglasses - Ol Pejeta is on the equator and the sun is very powerful here
  • Sun hat
  • Long sleeve shirt
  • Warm jumper
  • Windproof jacket
  • Long trousers
  • Cool t-shirts for day time
  • Shorts
